ONE AMAZING SEASON!!!!!!

This was an AMAZING first season for the Legend High School Marching Titans!!!! We started as a full band in July at band camp. We were pumped and so ready to improve ourselves! We worked hard and had lots of fun at band camp. When school started we got into our routine of tuesday and thursday practices, working hard all the time.
Our first competition was in Pueblo at the Colorado State Fair. We marched in a 2.5 mile parade and performed on a stage. We took second place in 3A and 6th overall out of 20 bands. In the time between the competitions we got to ride the rides and play around at the state fair. We had lots of fun!
Our second competition was a marching festival in Grand Junction. We had a five hour drive each way, which was pretty crazy! We also got to stop at Glenwood Hot Springs to go for a swim! We took 2nd place in 3A only .05 points away from the 1st place band! This was a huge accomplishment considering the number of people who were sick and the number of people who couldn't go.
The CBA Metro Regionals was our next competition. As a band, we had a great show! We placed 2nd in 3A, placing us 7th in 3A in the state of Colorado and taking us to state! No first year band in any class had EVER made it to semi-finals in Colorado until October 15th when we broke the record.
Two days later was DCMI (Douglas County Marching Invitational) put on by Douglas County High School. Since we didn't have a track record, we were the first band to perform, automatically eliminating us from going to finals in that competition. We took 2nd place in 3A out of 3 bands.
Our last competition of the season was CBA 3A state championships. We drove to Pueblo for the second time in the season. We competed in Semi-finals and waited for our score. The suspense nearly killed us as the places were announced. 10th...not us. 9th....not us. 8th....not us. 7th...PALISADE (the band that beat us in Grand Junction). WE CHEERED LOUDER THAN WE EVER HAD!!!! WE MADE IT TO FINALS!!!! We took 5th place in Semi-finals. Later we competed in a cold, dark, and wet finals competition. We slipped our way through the field show and nobody fell (THANK GOODNESS!!). Afterward, we stood through full retreat as the awards were announced. we took 6th place (last place), but we were as happy as we could possibly be!!
Within the time of these competitions we had 4 football games and a few other functions. We had 2 practices each week and one sectional every week. We worked hard this season, and that hard work definitely paid off!! We took 2nd place in 3A in every competition we went to except state. We broke two records in the state of Colorado. TITANS RULE!!!!!
We have one more parade as a full band this season, then we'll be preparing ourselves for the next season. I can't wait!!! :D

P.S. I was sick for every competition after Grand Junction. What an experience.

1 quarter down, 3 to go!

Thursday was the end of 1st quarter!!! WOW!! Only three quarters left of 8th grade!! This Quarter flew by! So has Marching Band!
Once upon a time, on June 1st, 2009, Mr. Otis told us at music camp that the season would fly by. Oh, how right he was! At that moment I was thinking about how hard the music looked, how we would never be able to play it, and how we would definitely never be able to march while playing it! At the end of those 4 days, we could play it.
Again, on July 20, 2009, Mr. Otis told us how quickly Marching Band season would go. Right then, I was thinking of how long Band Camp would be and how hard I would need to work. 2 weeks passed, and Band Camp was done. It felt like 2 seconds, not 2 weeks.
When School started Mr. Otis constantly reminded us of how fast the season was going; we'd already made it through both camps and we were already practicing regularly.
We've competed at Colorado State Fair, taking 2nd place in 3A and 6th out of all 20 bands. We've gone on our first overnight trip to the Grand Junction West Marching Festival, taking a close 2nd place (.05 points less than 1st) in 3A for field show and a close 2nd in parade as well. We've performed at 3 football games. CBA Metro Regionals are on Thursday, October 15, 6 days away. 2 days after is the DCMI (Douglas County Marching Invitational) Marching Festival. There isn't much left of the season. We're nearly done.
I've had a great time in the Legend Marching Band this year!! I've had fun times, and made great friends!! I'm going to miss marching when the season is over. Well, I'll just need to work hard during Symphonic season. Hopefully I can be in the Pit for our schools production of "Beauty and the Beast" this spring. I sure hope so :)
For now, I need to start out the 2nd quarter strong. I just don't want everything to pass by so fast! I wish it would last longer!

WOW!!!

HOW TIME FLIES!!!! I haven't written in FOREVER!!! well, pretty much, marching band rocks :) I have tons of fun in the Legend Titan Marching Band :) It's hard work, but very rewarding :) I don't have much to say, but I'm going to start writing more!

ugh

Not the best day ever. just wasn't. mean people. uncoolness. packing to leave on the worst weekend possible! I'm missing Annie, Girls Camp Late Night, Parker Days, and Shilo's birthday. :( not cool! All I want is to stay home this weekend!! Can't it just be my birthday present?

Summer

Schools out!! YAY!!! It's summer! I'm in vacation mode!! except for mini band camp this week! The music is challenging but not as hard as I thought it looked. I'm soooooo superly excited for this summer!! It's gonna be super-de-dooper fun!!

It's coming

Here comes the end of school! 10 more school days!!! I can't wait! I dont think anyone can! One thing I can wait for is makenzie leaving :( but i still have 4 full days plus a bit of one left. and I'm going to make sure i see her over summer! NO OPTION! but now I have to eat and do homework......race to the finish! hm....I feel a poem coming on! www.poetrydoctorsdailydose.blogspot.com !!!!!!

PERFORMING ARTS LEGEND!!!!!!!

Friday, April 24, 2009 was a legendary performing arts day at legend high school! (snicker) The Band got straight 1's at our festival!!! The only other band that did was The Denver School of the Arts!!!! WOW! The choir also got straight 1's!!!! Then it was THE BEST show of oklahoma!!! (Closing night takes second place)!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was altogether amazing!! Opening night on thursday was pretty amazing too!!!! The matinee...well.....moving on. Tons of fun in between shows!! "Honey i loooooooooove you! If you love me, SMILE!!! :)" haha! Then closing night put the show out with a bang!! (AND A KISS!) Chris's cast party pretty much ruled!!!! now its all done with just my music, poster, and shirt to remember it by! I WANT ANOTHER MUSICAL TO COME SOOON!!!! I'll miss it tons!!!!!

REAL Blizzard!!

So this time we got a real blizzard and I'm so excited!!! Ms. Granchelli let us text during class so our parents would know that we were let out early! Didn't see that one coming! then Language Arts was awesome! But now Longest day rehearsal is monday instead of tomorrow. yeah....oh well. HOT CHOCOLATE, HERE I COME!

Oklahoma!

Oh the farmers and the cowmen should be friends! Oh, the farmers and the cowmen should be friends! Oh, goodness. It's not a good thing when the music is a month late! We're trying our hardest though! The strings are good! The piano and drums are AMAZING! I can now play "Many a New Day" and peices of "Farmers and the Cowmen". Cross fingers we'll be good enough in time for the play!!!

School

Ugh. School. Need I say more? I think everyone is done with the school year. The teachers keep saying "Don't slow down guys! Charge up the mountain!" They say they remember how it feels...if they do, then why do they bug us about it!!?? Can't they just let us weep over the next 2 months in peace? Honestly, it's like they were never kids!!!

Gigglititous

Today was Elizabeth's party!! Fun stuff! Then Mom, Michelle and I went to the General YW Broadcast. "It's the ten COMMANDMENTS! Not the ten SUGGESTIONS!" haha so true! Then we enjoyed dinner at Red Robin. Amazing how slaphappy some people (Michelle and I) can get with french fries and lemonade! I think it's time for bed...

Crash!

Not like a real crash, just an energy crash. Who would've thought it took so much energy to organize a nursery and watch a 9 month old! Well now i get to have i cill night with friends. Spring Break is almost over! Time to get ready to charge. There wont be any breaks this time.

Blizzard!!

IT'S A BLIZZARD!!! If only school wasn't on break already!!! It's wasting our spring break! Well, time for hot chocolate and movies! And BOOKS of course!!! It's just a bit boring not being able to hang out with friends. :( oh well! Is our hot chocolate fully stocked?.....

Chores

So today is our first day of actually missing school for spring break.......I get to do chores. Well, I guess its a part of life to clean bedrooms and bathrooms. I do wish there was just a way that bathrooms would stay clean, but they don't. Every time it's on my chore list, I walk into the bathroom hoping it will somehow already be clean. I am always let down. My bedroom isn't that bad ever since Michelle helped me out. now its just putting away clean laundry. Still, I wish that was just done itself like in Harry Potter. Well, I'm off to finish!!

My friends totally rock! Like Lindsay, the first to make a blog!!!!! She's also my band buddy!!! haha BAND!!!!! Then there's Kenna who should really make one cuz her life is so cool it should be published! ;) And Casi should too! all my friends should!!! I'll work on that. :)

One Time At Band Camp...

Haha just kidding. I haven't ever been to band camp.....yet. But it's in july!! I totally can't wait! Right now it's just band: Class, Silent Auction, and Oklahoma. I can't wait!!!! I'm just bracing myself for the next crowded month!
